Schedule

Expect to learn a lot during your time at Wordcamp Kent 2018. WordCamps are “un-conferences,” meaning you can feel free to leave a session or move to another if you realize the content isn’t relevant to you.

We also encourage you to participate in the “hallway track,” networking in the hallways in between your sessions. Sessions are each 45 minutes long with 15 minute breaks in between.

On Saturday, we will have three tracks: Freelancers, Marketing & SEO, and Developers.

On Sunday, we’ll have WordPress 101, Community, and Users/Business tracks.

See a full list of sessions and entire schedule here.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at WordCamp Kent!

Tickets to WordCamp Kent, June 9-10, 2018 Now Available!

Tickets are now available for WordCamp Kent 2018.

WordCamp Kent 2018 will be held June 9-10 at Kent State University Hotel & Conference Center. Tickets are only $40 and cover both days of sessions and networking and include a t-shirt, access to the after-party on Saturday night, coffee & snacks, lunch on Saturday, and some awesome swag.

We are expecting around 125 attendees, but sessions are broken down into three (3) classroom-style rooms where you can feel free to ask questions directly to the speakers. There is also a quiet area in the Conference Center if you identify as an introvert and would like space to retreat to during the event.

We have speakers from a variety of backgrounds including bloggers/content writers,  authors, web designers, developers, SEO experts, and entrepreneurs. Information about our awesome sessions and speakers will be posted this week!

If you have applied to be a speaker, sponsor, or volunteer, we have tickets reserved for you and will be notifying you shortly on how to claim your tickets.

Announcing Our Keynote Speaker – Kyle Maurer

WordCamp Kent is rapidly approaching (June 9th-10th)! We are excited to announce that we have selected Kyle Maurer as our keynote speaker.

Kyle works at Sandhills Development on Easy Digital Downloads which is a WordPress plugin that makes selling digital products ridiculously simple. He’s a native of Jackson, Michigan, co-hosts the Get Options podcast, and helps organize meetups and WordCamps in the region while brewing fine beer and playing guitar as often as possible.

He has always been a big supporter of the Northeast Ohio WordPress community and we are deeply honored for WordCamp Kent 2018 to be his first keynote presentation. We are very excited to have Kyle speak this year!

Keep checking back for the other speaker announcements and the schedule!

Silver Level Sponsor Spotlight: DreamHost

This post was submitted by DreamHost, a Wordcamp Kent 2018 sponsor!

DreamHost loves Kent!  The seasons are gorgeous, the food makes you feel like you’re home, and the people are lovely.  We thought to ourselves, “We kent not sponsor WordCamp Kent!” So we are!

DreamHost is proud to be a sponsor of WordCamp Kent 2018!

Here’s a crazy statistic! On average, we have 1.8 WordPress installations for every single customer at DreamHost. That’s a whole lot of WordPress all over our servers. With WordPress powering over a quarter of all sites on the web, it’s hard to see why anyone wouldn’t get excited about its incredible ability to give voices to the voiceless through lovingly-crafted lines of poetic code.

DreamHost supports WordPress with our time, with our talent, and with our technology. We’ve built incredible managed WordPress hosting options like DreamPress that make it run like lightning!

WordPress brings the creativity of people and the power of computers together in a way that few platforms have been able to accomplish. The WordPress community is incredible and never ceases to amaze us! It’s full of thousands of helpful people, all focused as much on improving the core platform as it is to ensuring that anyone who wants their voice heard online gets that chance.

WordCamps take the best of the WordPress community and bring it offline. WordPress users, designers, and developers of all skill levels gather together for two days of learning and networking in one of the most supportive environments you’ll find in the tech world.

We’re thrilled to be sponsoring WordCamp Kent this year and can’t wait to hear your stories!
